Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Johns Hopkins, Tyrel McQueen ’04 won the 2012 David and Lucile Packard Foundation Fellowship for Science and Engineering. The fellowship is one of 16 awarded each year nationwide, and bestows $875,000 (over a five-year period) to unusually creative young faculty members. Tyrel, who is also an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, will use the award to continue his work toward discovering, designing, and controlling materials with exotic electronic states of matter, with applications ranging from fundament science to solving energy problems.
Todd Clements ’97 finished up his first full year teaching chemistry at Mt. SAC. On a personal note, Todd and his wife had their fourth baby in July and purchased a home in Orange County.
